CLOUDBURST EXHIBITION 2012

Quiescence, digital print on duratran, 2 x 1.8m

Cloudburst came about as part of the Leap Project space coordinator Jill Antonie and her idea to mark the first year Anniversary of the floods of last year. Being caught up in my Bachelor of Visual Arts Honours year of study for most of 2011 it was great to help out with this community arts initiative and collaborate with other members of the community to pull together an exhibition that included photography, video and installation, all with the common goal of support for the Sunraysia area and the after effects of the flooding.

Old houses have always been a bit of a magnet for me-

they reveal something incredibly authentic-

and tell stories-

that new houses do not understand.

The Connor House South Mildura

One of the iconic abandoned houses in the area this home stands in clear view from the road. Pete and Donnie who live across from the place sent in the image. Donnie has a fascination for empty houses and has generously shared a few from her collection. The next two reside somewhere in Koorlong Irymple.
